Hiawassee Night Market

Hiawassee Town Square 19 S. Main Street, Hiawassee, Georgia, United States

The Hiawassee Night Market started with a conversation that generated after visiting another market in South Georgia and recognizing the need for a market like this, one where people of all ages could gather in an outdoor setting, enjoy local artists, food (fresh and prepared), with music. The Hiawassee Downtown Development Authority (DDA) knew that such a market aligned with their vision of what was needed in the downtown area and the Night Market was created. The concept was simple: offer art, live music, games, and food in an open outdoor setting that would be welcoming for guests of all ages.

Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon

Pink Floyd’s iconic album ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ was originally released in March 1973 and what more fitting a place to celebrate it and experience it than in a Planetarium, through the music set to visuals. With the help of modern technology, the idea of a show combining breath-taking views of the solar system and beyond, played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side Of The Moon in surround sound, has been embraced by the band. NSC Creative have led the visual production efforts, working closely with Pink Floyd’s long time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis. Each song has a different theme; some futuristically looking forward and some a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd’s visual history, all relating to a time and space experience, embracing up to the minute technology that only a Planetarium can offer. A truly immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that will transcend reality and take you way beyond the realms of reality.

Ripcord

Blue Ridge Community Theater 61 Tsalaki Trail, Blue Ridge, Georgia, United States

A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, so when the cantankerous Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the old women quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents, but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden. “A show to treasure…a deeply satisfying and vastly entertaining story of two elderly women thrown together by a comic cosmic force possessed of a wicked sense of humor. There are deeper issues lurking below the comedic surface…that gradually build from belly laughs to something more emotionally nutritious.” -Deadline

52nd Annual Helen to Atlantic Balloon Race

The South’s oldest balloon event and the United States’ only long-distance hot air balloon race will begin (weather permitting) with a mass ascension of around 20 bright and colorful hot air balloons, in North Georgia’s Alpine Village – Helen. Race competitors and local flyers will take to the sky at 7:00 am, Thursday, May 29, 2025. If the weather conditions are too windy or storms are forecast, the takeoff will be postponed until conditions are acceptable. The people of Helen believe that Helen, Georgia is the center of their world and in Columbus’ day the Atlantic Ocean was the “edge of the Earth”. Thus, Pete Hodkinson came up with the concept for the Helen to the Atlantic Balloon Race. The race begins in Helen and the finish line is I-95 (anywhere between Maine and Miami). The shortest distance is 225 miles and the race usually takes two days. It has been done in one day, while some races have taken as many as four days. Several balloons will be competing in the cross country race. It is a race where both the pilot’s and crew’s skills are challenged. A balloon can only go the same speed and direction as the wind. The pilot must find the altitude which gives him/her the best speed as well as direction towards the finish line. The race becomes a crew event as well, since the balloons are limited to 40 gallons of fuel (propane). Forty gallons is approximately enough fuel to last 4 hours, so the balloons have to land for refueling. If the crew is not there immediately with fresh tanks, valuable time is lost while the pilot and crew try to find each other. The winner is the first person to cross I-95, or whoever is ahead at sunset on Friday, May 30, 2025. While the competition to the Atlantic continues, other balloonist competes in local events beginning Thursday evening around 6:00 pm. Local flying events will take place also on Friday and Saturday. The balloons will fly around 7:30 am and 6:00 pm each day (weather permitting). The balloons will only fly for around 1 to 2 hours. There will be many opportunities available to the public, assisting with the inflations, being a part of a chase crew or taking a tethered ride in a balloon. There will be approximately 20 balloons flying locally.

We’ll take you through the sweet, soulful sounds of 'Can't Help Falling in Love,' one of Elvis's most timeless ballads, where his voice melted hearts and captivated millions around the world. And let’s not forget 'Jailhouse Rock' — the song that put a whole new spin on the jailhouse blues, with Elvis dancing and grooving through one of the most iconic moments in rock history. We’ll be shaking things up with 'Blue Suede Shoes,' a rockabilly classic that had fans everywhere putting on their dancing shoes, and we’ll hit you with the smooth and sultry 'Suspicious Minds,' where Elvis took his audience on an emotional journey of love and betrayal. You can’t have an Elvis show without 'All Shook Up'! With its fast-paced rhythm and fun lyrics, this song became a trademark of the carefree spirit Elvis embodied. And, of course, we’ll bring you the soulful 'Burning Love,' a song that proved Elvis could still rock hard and sound as powerful as ever, even in the 1970s. And for all the dreamers in the audience, 'Love Me Tender' will make you swoon as we dive deep into Elvis’s ability to capture the tender, romantic side of life with just a few simple notes. So, whether you’re here to relive the early days of Elvis’s career or experience his legendary performances for the first time, tonight’s show is packed with all the music that made Elvis Presley a household name. Get ready to sing, dance, and relive the magic of the King of Rock and Roll. This is Don’t Be Cruel: An Elvis Tribute Show!

Revisiting Creedence

Featuring powerhouse performers Dan McGuinness and Kurt Griffey, who for a decade rocked stages worldwide with Creedence Clearwater Revival's founding members Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford, this is a show you won't want to miss. Even though Cook and Clifford have retired from touring, the magic of Creedence continues through Griffey (lead guitar) and McGuinness (lead vocal), making music and winning hearts and ears across the globe. Rolling Stone recently declared that "Creedence were America's biggest band in the summer of '69," and astonishingly, they remain a dominant force in 2024, with their greatest hits album, “Chronicle,” charting above current and contemporary superstar acts. This enduring legacy speaks to the timeless appeal of CCR's music, which Revisiting Creedence brings to life with pedigree, unmatched energy, experience and authenticity. Clifford says, “After 25 years of traveling with Revisited, Stu Cook and I decided to retire, but you can still get that great sound with Kurt Griffey and Dan McGuinness and Revisiting Creedence.” Revisiting Creedence delivers more than just a concert; it's a full-throttle celebration that will have you dancing, singing, and feeling every note of CCR's iconic hits. Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering the magic of Creedence for the first time, Revisiting Creedence will leave you mesmerized. The buzz from their recent Michigan show still lingers, with audiences praising it as "one of the best yet!"
