Young Harris, Georgia, is a rural, college town located in Towns County. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s not difficult to find a gorgeous view. It was named after Young Loftin Gerdine Harris, an American lawyer and businessman who became the early benefactor of Young Harris College.
Founded in 1886, YHC originally provided rural Appalachian Mountain children an opportunity for education. Today, the campus is a 4-year institution and draws students because of its limited enrollment, beautiful mountain setting, athletics teams and outdoor activities.
Visitors and residents in Young Harris can stay, dine, golf and go horseback riding at the gorgeous Brasstown Valley Resort in addition to hiking the Arkaquah Trail, which leads to Brasstown Bald (the highest peak in Georgia), visiting Cupid Falls and boating or fishing on the gorgeous Lake Chatuge.
