Thaddeus Erdahl & Stephanie Stuefer Opening Reception

Campus Gate Art Gallery 1 College St

Thaddeus Erdahl and Stephanie Stuefer met while pursuing their MFA degrees at the University of Florida. Thaddeus is currently a devoted studio artist, teaching workshops across the country, and showing work nationally and internationally. Deeply inspired by his father's art, Thaddeus’ work speaks of the interconnectedness of past and present and the beauty found in the passage of time. It captures erosion and growth in a single piece, inviting viewers to contemplate the enigmatic nature of life itself. Stephanie has worked with clay as both a sculptural medium and utilitarian material. Her current utilitarian body of work was originally designed for her husband’s coffee roasting venture, Zagg’s Coffee. The “zig zag” lines of the mug forms set into motion a broader body of work for this show.

The Moors by Jen Silverman (PG-13)

Two sisters and a dog live out their lives on the bleak English moors, dreaming of love and power. The arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen set all three on a strange and dangerous path. The Moors is a dark comedy about love, desperation, and visibility, a satirical take on the Brontë sisters' gothic musings. It tells the story of a governess who arrives at a remote manor after exchanging correspondence with a mysterious man, but finds no one there except his two sisters, a maid, and a dog. The play explores themes of love, identity, power, and toxic relationships, and some say it reveals important social and sexual politics for women in the United States. Rated PG-13, contains sexual themes and potential simulated violence. Viewer discretion is advised.

This is Our Youth by Kenneth Lonergan (R)

The very last wave of New York City’s '60s-style Liberalism has come of age—and there’s nowhere left to go. In meticulous, hilarious, and agonizing detail, THIS IS OUR YOUTH follows forty-eight hours of three very lost young souls in the big city at the dawn of the Reagan Era. Funny, painful, and compassionate, THIS IS OUR YOUTH is a living snapshot of the moment between adolescence and adulthood when many young people first go out into the world on their own, armed only with the ideas and techniques they developed as teenagers—ideas and techniques far more sophisticated than their parents ever realize, and far less effectual than they can imagine. - Rated R, contains mature themes, explicit language, and drug use. Viewer discretion is advised.
