Audrey Davenport

Swanson Center for Performing Arts & Communications 365 College Dr.

A native of Cornelia, Davenport is the curator and president of the Regional African American Museum of Northeast Georgia. She served as executive director of the Habersham County Historical Society for seven years and spearheaded the creation of the City Cornelia’s first mural. This self-portrait will introduce visitors to Davenport’s many contributions. The new Audrey Davenport Endowed Scholarship honors her exemplary community leadership.

Piedmont University String Orchestra, in its fourth year under the direction of Heather Strachan, combines players from the community and the university in the performance of significant works for string orchestra.

36th Annual Service of Lessons & Carols

Now in its 36th year, the Annual Service of Lessons and Carols is one of the region’s most beloved events celebrating Christmas. The Piedmont Chorale, Brass Choir, the Sewell Organ, and the Chestatee High School Chorus, are featured in this special program of readings, carols, and choir anthems to begin the Christmas season. Bobby Ivey and Lisa Bassett, conductors. Admission fee required. Tickets will be available October 25.
