YHC Jazz Band Concert

The Big Dance is back and better than ever! Join us Saturday, March 14th, in The Harp Center on the campus of Young Harris College, for a fun night of dance and music with The Swingin’ Medallions! Proceeds support student scholarships from Fannin, Gilmer, Rabun, Towns, and Union counties in Georgia and Cherokee and Clay counties in North Carolina. This year, you get to choose your own theme for the table-decorating contest. Star Wars? The 1970s? Georgia football? It’s up to you!

Student Juried Art + Design Exhibition This annual exhibition showcases, awards, and celebrates all creative achievements of the Art and Graphic Design major and minor students as well as non-majors who have taken an art course at Young Harris College. The exhibition offers six categories for student submission: Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media/ Printmaking, Graphic Design/Illustration, Photography/Video, and 3D Sculpture/ Ceramics/Installation. A third-party juror awards first, second, and third place as well as Honorable Mention in each category along with the overall award, “Best of Show.” Other awards include the President’s Award; Beauty Can Change the World Award sponsored by YHC Religious Life, and the YHC Art Department Awards which include the Richard Aunspaugh and Birdie Bryan Miller Art Awards.

Experience the night sky like never before in Skies Over Georgia, a live, presenter-led star show, featuring the full capabilities of the planetarium’s state-of-the-art optical star projector. Designed in the spirit of traditional stargazing, this immersive program transports audiences to a clear night high above the mountains of north Georgia. You’ll learn how to identify the planets and stars currently visible in the evening sky, gain tips for spotting celestial objects on your own, and enjoy a guided tour through the constellations. Along the way, discover the myths, legends, and cultural stories that have been woven into the stars for generations—revealing how humans across time and cultures have found meaning in the cosmos. Perfect for stargazers of all ages and experience levels, this program brings the beauty and wonder of the night sky indoors.

Faculty Artist Lecture Recital - American DNA - Dr. Hayes Bunch, percussion Join Dr. Hayes Bunch and friends for an engaging evening of minimalist and post-minimalist music for solo percussion and chamber ensemble. Featuring works by Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and others, this thoughtfully curated program explores the rhythms and textures of minimalism and its influence on American contemporary music.

Senior Thesis Art + Design Exhibition The Senior Thesis Exhibition is an annual showcase featuring the final work of senior BA students majoring or minoring in Art and Graphic Design. It marks the culmination of their studies, presenting a cohesive body of artwork and design that reflects each student’s individual creative practice

Pink Floyd’s iconic album ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ was originally released in March 1973 and what more fitting a place to celebrate it and experience it than in a Planetarium, through the music set to visuals. With the help of modern technology, the idea of a show combining breath-taking views of the solar system and beyond, played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side Of The Moon in surround sound, has been embraced by the band. NSC Creative have led the visual production efforts, working closely with Pink Floyd’s long time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis. Each song has a different theme; some futuristically looking forward and some a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd’s visual history, all relating to a time and space experience, embracing up to the minute technology that only a Planetarium can offer. A truly immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat that will transcend reality and take you way beyond the realms of reality.

Acapalooza This a cappella concert unites the Concert and Chamber Choirs for an unforgettable evening of music.
