Each ticket is allotted 2 slices of either cheese or pepperoni pizza. Dawn and Nash will donate a portion of their proceeds to a Children's Charity in Gilmer County, Fostering Roots Advocate. A Fostering Roots Advocate has the role of being the lead cheerleader and catalyst of creating a Care Support Team around their foster family. Not everyone is called to foster, but a community can play a role in caring for children by caring for foster families. (Mission in additional info tab) Traveling Caregivers Ministries via the music ministry of Dawn Loves Nash is looking to Cheerlead a group in the community to help sponsor a foster family.

Cullowhee is the name of a small town in Western North Carolina, and the home of Western Carolina University where, Terry Edwards, Mike Clark, and Sandy Flynn started a folk trio back in the 1970's. The trio grew to four pieces with the addition of Thom Jenkins, multi instrumentalist and percussionist. Later joined by Rick Hubbard and Woody Jenkins the band became "Cullowhee." The music lives on. The Band Cullowhee has chosen Ellijay as this year's reunion performance location and The Playhouse will be their stage. Even though they are renting the Playhouse for this weekend the RSVPed tickets are open to local residents who may recall their heyday in the 90s or may just want to have a fun weekend with the fans of and the band, Cullowhee. RSVPs are requested if you attend. Concessions will be available during the shows. More information as it develops.

Apple Classic Auto Show

Please join us for our annual Apple Classic Auto Show and Swap Meet in association with the Georgia Apple Festival. Registration 8am-12pm – Awards 3pm Pre Register $20 – Day of Show $25 This location will accommodate 300+ show car spaces. We will have a swap meet, door prizes, live DJ, food, and more. All proceeds benefit our local community through scholarships, children’s Christmas programs, the food pantry, Kids Ferst program, and more. We hope to see everyone at the show on Saturday, October 12th.

Gilmer County Heritage Day at Harrison Park

This FREE event will provide a look at our past and will educate attendees about the history and heritage of Gilmer County. Experiences are planned so that all ages can have fun at the park while learning what life was like in Gilmer County long ago. For this celebration, FHP volunteers have planned an old-fashioned party that will bring performances, activities, crafts, foods, demonstrations and games reminiscent of the last 200 years to the park. Dozens of vendors, artists and demonstrators are set to bring their knowledge, skills and products to share, along with live music and great traditional food vendors.

Joe Gransden’s Big Band Sound Dine ‘n Dance

A widening schedule has found Joe performing the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month at Café 290 in Atlanta w/his 16 Piece Big Band , The Jazz Corner in Hilton Head, South Carolina, The Ritz-Carlton at Reynolds Plantation W/Michael Fienstein, The Museum of Art and Design in midtown Manhattan, Spivey Hall in Atlanta, Ga and Tehema Golf Club in Carmel, California (where Joe regularly plays events for Clint Eastwood). Joe also just released his brand new cd “Close To My Heart” produced by Saxophone great Kenny G. The cd is a collection of smooth jazz covers and originals written by Joe and Kenny. BUT, November 16th will find him and his quartet in Ellijay, GA playing for us at the Buckley Vineyards. There will be a buffet, Wine can be purchased at Buckley's counter, you will be inspired to dance, and there will be a silent auction of our local artists "Plein Air Works, Color in the Mountains". All in all its going to be a fabulous evening of FUNdraising for Gilmer Arts. Join us.

Community Chorus

The fall concert theme is "American Hymns and Folk Songs". The Gilmer Arts Community Chorus is starting preparation for its fall season. The chorus will begin rehearsals at the George Link Jr Gilmer Arts Playhouse on Dalton St. in downtown Ellijay for the annual fall concert. We are inviting area singers to join us. Is that you? This season's conductors are Lisa Lacey, Scott Eaton, Camden Pruitt, Jacob McVey, and Charles Claiborne. If you love to sing, can read music, and want to be a little challenged by some of the area's best choral directors, come sing with us! If you love music and want a relaxing afternoon of music sung by our Community Chorus your ticket is only $10. here and at the door. Youth tickets are $5. at the door.
