All are welcome to join the Dahlonega Sacred Harp singers. We gather every second and fourth Tuesday to carry on the Georgia shape-note tradition, singing four-part songs out of The Sacred Harp (first published in 1844). We sit facing each other in a square formation, and we sing only for ourselves and each other, not an audience, although curious listeners are always welcome. You do not need to “have a good voice” or “be a good musician” to join our community. Participation is the only metric of success. It is helpful if you can read staff notation, but not required. We will help you learn. Books are available at each meeting to borrow or buy. For more information about Sacred Harp, visit fasola.org.
