The Hiawassee Night Market started with a conversation that generated after visiting another market in South Georgia and recognizing the need for a market like this, one where people of all ages could gather in an outdoor setting, enjoy local artists, food (fresh and prepared), with music. The Hiawassee Downtown Development Authority (DDA) knew that such a market aligned with their vision of what was needed in the downtown area and the Night Market was created. The concept was simple: offer art, live music, games, and food in an open outdoor setting that would be welcoming for guests of all ages. The artisans, growers and food at the market is remarkable. We hope that you will visit the Night Market and savor all that is home grown and handmade! Make sure to bring your lawn chair to sit a spell and enjoy the live music. Nero Simon and the Sunsetters are an American rock band formed in Atlanta, GA in 2021 by singer-songwriter Jorge “Nero” Simon. Blending styles of classic rock and 70s California folk, this 8-piece ensemble delivers a sun-drenched sound that invites you to discover a trove of original music filled with visions of sunsets, sand and surf. With the Sunsetters, Nero sought to angle Americana music in a different direction, embarking on a sound that doesn’t draw its breath from the heartland or the mountains, but instead is firmly rooted at sea level, pulsating from the coastlines, islands and keys of the American South. As one reviewer notes, the band’s music “takes a deeper dive into the Beach Boys’ more serious era, with none of their abstractions — a well interpreted soft-rock potpourri.” Another writes “Nero Simon and the Sunsetters cultivate a musical mood that breeds a desire for spontaneous adventure, aiming to tell stories through their music, harnessing a classic soft-rock sound for modern times.” The group’s energetic live show is best enjoyed with some salt and a wedge of lime as they deliver hot takes on their originals along with a variety of solid gold covers. When you spend an afternoon or evening with the Sunsetters, no matter where you are, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to paradise.

Click here for a complete listing of current vendors. Always free admission and parking is free too! Don’t forget to stop by the DDA booth to say hello, we look forward to seeing you at the Market!

TRIBUTE – a celebration of The Allman Brothers Band is a powerful 8 piece group that faithfully recreates the music of one of the finest bands of all time. Since its founding in 2013, Atlanta-based TRIBUTE has earned a reputation as the source for the authentic ABB sound around Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. Rigged with vintage equipment, they interpret the Allman catalog in such a way that these songs written in the ‘60s and ‘70s come alive again. If the band has learned anything from performing these songs, it is the realization that even though The Allman Brothers Band has shut down, their music maintains the same power over people just as it did 50 years ago. It is a phenomenon TRIBUTE gladly verifies every time they hit the stage. With 10 sold out shows at City Winery, legendary performances at Variety Playhouse, The Fox Theatre’s 40th Anniversary Block Party, The House of Blues, and hundreds of great music rooms, theaters and festivals throughout the south, TRIBUTE has amassed a large and loyal following. TRIBUTE recalls that unique period in American rock, when psychedelia ebbed and The ABB informed us what jazz, rock, country and blues could sound like. Comprised of musicians with decades of performance experience, the members of TRIBUTE bring their shared love of The Allman Brothers Band to life when it comes time for hittin’ the note.

Unloved by her cruel parents, Matilda impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey, with her extraordinary personality. But the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. Matilda’s courage and cleverness could be the pupils' saving grace!
